About Emily Sibley Watson

One warm spring afternoon sometime around 1906, Rochester arts patron Emily Sibley Watson heard a young David Hochstein practicing violin through an open window at her neighbor’s home. She became his benefactor, ensuring that he received the finest training available. This was the genesis of what would later become The Hochstein School as we know it – providing people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with access to excellent music and dance education in a community that nurtures and encourages personal achievement.

Emily Sibley Watson Leadership Society

We invite you to become a member of the Emily Sibley Watson Society, Hochstein’s leadership giving society.

The Emily Sibley Watson Society was created to recognize and thank those who are leadership donors to Hochstein, and to encourage others to join. Members make annual unrestricted donations of $1,000 or more to support Hochstein in its mission.

As an annual leadership donor through the Emily Sibley Watson Society, your support will go to where the need is greatest: need-based scholarships, attracting qualified faculty, enhancing our program offerings, and maintaining our historic building and Performance Hall.

Members stand at the forefront of a movement to help the School provide increased services and continually adapt to our community’s needs. Like those School leaders who came before them, members of the Emily Sibley Watson Society will earn a place in the School’s history for their dedication to and belief in the power of music and dance education.

Emily Sibley Watson Society members enjoy exclusive benefits including:

  • Highlighted listing in the Annual Report and Honors Convocation Program in the Spring featuring Hochstein’s most accomplished students.
  • Special reception at Hochstein’s yearly culminating event, the Honors Convocation.
  • Invitation to other VIP events and recognitions throughout the year.

Join today by making an unrestricted gift to Hochstein. Contact our Development Department at 585-454-4403 or development@hochstein.org.
