Hochstein student Joe Bedard finds supportive environment to challenge himself

When people think of The Hochstein School, they often imagine school-aged students taking lesson but really, students of all ages find new skills and strengths when they come to Hochstein.

Joe Bedard, a Gulf War veteran, came to Hochstein with the desire to try something new. He moved to Rochester within the last year and saw a sign about songwriting classes and came in to inquire. He started studying songwriting with Dr. Dave Chisholm and began writing and singing original songs.

His songs include “Sharing Caring,” “Working Man Blues,” and “Say No.” Many of his songs have now been turned into music videos posted on YouTube, and he has also participated in spoken word open mic nights, both things he had not done before coming to Hochstein.

At Hochstein, he has found a supportive environment to challenge himself. This video shares Joe’s story.
