Hochstein faculty members are taking part in a number of events at the Rochester Fringe Festival, which starts on Tuesday, September 12 and runs through Saturday, September 23. Events include a showcase of percussive dance, including tap; dynamic Latin dance; a 13-piece jazz band; and an evening of stand-up comedy and drag.

Stand Up for Drag – 7:00 pm, MuCCC

Dave Rivello Ensemble/RED - 7:30 pm, Kilbourn Hall
What happens when the 13-member Dave Rivello Ensemble plugs in? DRE I RED! Sharp angles contrasted with smooth textures and combined with dynamic solos make for an evening of continuous color. This is an extension of the Dave Rivello Ensemble, which is celebrating 30 years as a band in Rochester, and continues to be Rivello’s vehicle for his original work, as well as his main orchestral voice. Diaspora: We Are One – 7:30 pm, School of the Arts
Borinquen Dance Theatre, led by Hochstein faculty member Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez, will be performing this dance piece that highlights the cultural traditions, beliefs, and spirituality of the diasporic people through movement and dance. It shares the light of truth of who we are, and reminds all that we are one. More info:

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
Tap! Pop! Click! Patter! Shake! – 2:00 pm, CenterStage Theater at JCC
A panel of culturally diverse percussive dancers will educate and entertain through the universal language of rhythm in motion. The panel is moderated by jazz tap dancer Cheryl Johnson, including discussions and performances by Laurie Coles (American rhythm tap), Daystar/Rosalie Jones (Native American intertribal dance), Karla Slack (Mexican zapateado), Eddie Murphy (Irish step), Parvatha Chidambaram (South Indian classical dance), Mary Jo Spallina, (Appalachian clogging), and Adrianne Rose Santucci (African dance & drum).
