The Hochstein School is honored to be the recipient of one of the 2023 RPO Music Educators’ Awards!
A committee of RPO musicians and community educators selected the recipients from nominations submitted by administrators, educators, parents and students. The awards were presented on Thursday, March 16 before a concert featuring Stephen Hough playing Brahms at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. RPO Music Director Andreas Delfs presented the awards from the stage before the concert, with musician representatives Andrew Brown and Willa Finck congratulating the recipients at a pre-concert reception.
Hochstein President & Executive Director Hilary Respass and former President & Executive Director Peggy Quackenbush accepted the award on behalf of Hochstein. This award was originally announced in 2020, Hochstein’s centennial year, but the award was delayed due to COVID-19.
“Through their tireless efforts, these music educators have inspired, challenged, and encouraged students to develop their musical talents and achieve their full potential,” acknowledges RPO Lisk Morris Foundation Vice President of Education Chair Barbara Brown. “Beyond their skill in teaching music, the recipients demonstrate a deep commitment to their students’ overall well-being. They have gone above and beyond to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.”
