Hochstein faculty members are taking part in a number of Rochester Fringe Festival events starting on Tuesday, September 13 and running through Saturday, September 24. Events include a comedy show called “Band Geeks;” a reprise of a tribute to Chick Corea through music and dance; dynamic Latin dance; an evening of stand-up comedy and drag; percussion ensemble; jazz band; and ukuleles!

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
Stand Up for Drag – 8:00 pm, Geva Theatre Center
Combining the best of the drag scene with the best of the stand-up comedy scene. Kyla Minx, Yolanda Smilez, and Cindy Arena provide the panache and style for a nonstop evening of laughter, performance, and more, guided by endearing host Kevin Markman.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
The Deuce of Ukes – 12:30 pm, Little Theatre
The debut pairing of two members of the Rochester Ukulele Orchestra - Randy Pollok and Stephen Jacobs - in a "spin-off" act where they deliver their own versions of popular music from the last 200 years or so.

A comedy show with live music that follows two women from their first day of instrument selection through their adult lives. It is PG-13 for language and some suggestive dialogue. Hochstein performers include:

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
A Night of Stars – 7:30 pm, The Theater At Innovation Square
This show reprises the nightclub acts of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Jimmy Durante, and Louis Armstrong, and includes songs most closely identified with these famous performers. Frank Torchio sings and performs comedic impressions with the 12-piece Russell Scarbrough Orchestra.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
Return to Corea – 8:00 pm, The Theater At Innovation Square
A cast of three musicians and one rhythm tap dancer/vocalist will reimagine jazz fusion compositions by keyboard virtuoso Chick Corea. This is the same show that was on Hochstein’s Spotlight on Faculty Series in April. Including:

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
Relax: Music, Movement, and Mindfulness – 8:00 pm, The Theater At Innovation Square
Featuring some of the city’s best dancers and musicians, “Relax” is a performance paired with mindfulness tasks for the audience, from brief suggestions to guided meditations. This is an invitation to a restorative evening of entertainment.
