This week, nine members of Hochstein Youth Singers, directed by Maryellen Giese, and their families will travel to Boston to sing in one of the conference’s prestigious honor choirs at the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Region Conference, taking place February 9-12. These students were chosen from hundreds of applicants from Virginia to Maine.
All of these singers regularly participate in the Hochstein Youth Singers, an energetic chorus at The Hochstein School made up of motivated and dedicated young musicians who love to sing.
Each of the ensembles – Junior High School Honor Choir, High School Honor Choir, and Gospel Honor Choir – will be rehearsing during the ACDA conference under the direction of internationally acclaimed conductors. Performances take place on Friday, February 11, and Saturday, February 12.
HYS Director Maryellen Giese says, “the past two pandemic years have been hard for our young singers. I’m proud of our Youth Singers’ continued energy, drive, and resilience through it all!” Giese looks forward to having this group of fine, well-prepared musicians represent Hochstein at the ACDA Eastern Conference.
