The Hochstein Wind Symphony Program offers junior and senior high school wind, brass, and percussion students a focused, short-session ensemble experience — culminating in a live concert performance in Hochstein’s Performance Hall.
The Hochstein Wind Symphony Program provides an intensive short-session opportunity for motivated junior and senior high school wind students to expand their wind band experience. Students rehearse challenging repertoire under expert direction and perform a final concert in Hochstein’s Performance Hall. The Junior Wind Symphony meets in the fall; the Youth Wind Symphony meets in the winter. Students are admitted by application and teacher recommendation.
The Wind Symphony Program is designed for motivated woodwind, brass, and percussion students in grades 7–12 who want to deepen their wind band experience beyond their school ensemble. Each session is intensive by design — students are expected to arrive at the first rehearsal with their music already well in hand. The program is supported in part by the Louise Alfreda Hill Memorial Fund and made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts.
Students are admitted by application and teacher recommendation. Application deadlines vary by ensemble — visit the individual ensemble pages below for current dates, fees, and online application forms. For general questions, contact us at (585) 454-4596.
