Adam Surasky

Adam Surasky had the great fortune of growing up in a multi-generational musical family who encouraged him to embrace music in all its many forms. He listened, experimented, and informally studied a wide variety of musical forms and instruments. Perfection was not a part of Adam’s musical experience, but immersion in the emotion it conveys was the force behind his musical background and continues to be to this day.

Working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities has been Adam’s passion for the last 15 years and he has discovered his love for student-directed teaching through many encounters with eager musicians, of all abilities, both beginner and advanced.

Adam has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester. He was a music instructor at Cobblestone Arts Center in Farmington for eight years. He is currently the Assistant Director and Music VP of the Warsaw Barbershop Chorus and has been for over a decade. Adam currently sings in a competition quartet, and has enjoyed the thrill of singing on the international stage. He has given many music lessons in voice, guitar, piano, and percussion over the past 30 years – both private and for groups – and is now proud to be on the faculty of the Expressive Arts program here at Hochstein.
