Isabella Lau

Isabella Lau is a native to the Rochester area and recent graduate from Michigan State University and the Eastman School of Music, earning Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Trombone Performance, respectively. Her primary trombone teachers have included Ava Ordman, Larry Zalkind, Mark Kellogg, Evan Dobbins, Erik Jacobs, and BJ Comer.
While at Eastman, she also received a Certificate in Arts Leadership from the school’s Institute for Music Leadership. During Isabella’s senior year at Eastman, she served as the operations assistant for the Eastman Centennial Planning Committee, supporting the school’s celebration of 100 years serving the arts and Rochester community.
Isabella has performed as a member of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, MSU Wind Symphony, Eastman Schola Cantorum, and OSSIA New Music. She has also performed as a substitute musician in the Ann Arbor Symphony, Michigan Philharmonic, and Adrian Symphony Orchestra.
Recently, Isabella was a counselor for the Eastman Community Music School’s Adventure Music Camp and mentor for the Future in Music Program, which focuses on promoting access to high quality education to brass players who are marginalized on the basis of gender or may not have such access.
