From a student’s first orchestral experience to the full symphonic stage, Hochstein’s Orchestral Program offers a clear path of growth for string, wind, brass, and percussion players in grades 1 through 12 — and beyond.
The Hochstein Orchestral Program is designed to provide students at all skill levels with the opportunity to learn and grow within the orchestral setting, developing comprehensive musicianship and an understanding of orchestral literature. Serving nine counties surrounding the Greater Rochester area, the program offers a sequential course of study for beginning to advanced student musicians — with an emphasis on technical expertise and musical expression. Focusing on the individual as well as the group, Hochstein’s program offers a positive environment in which to thrive, achieve personal goals, and have fun.
The Hochstein Orchestral Program offers a sequential course of study ranging from an introductory orchestral experience all the way through full symphonic orchestras — serving students in grades 1 through 12 across nine counties in the Greater Rochester area. Each participant in the program is expected to maintain membership in an instrumental ensemble at their school, where available.
Auditions are required for all Hochstein orchestras. The audition process takes place each May for the following school year. View the Orchestral Program and Audition Info PDF below for requirements.
