Live from Hochstein – The Classical Mandolin

The mandolin is often associated with bluegrass, country and folk music, but the classical mandolin is a well-established tradition with a diverse repertoire that goes back centuries. This program features a wide variety of mandolin compositions in different instrumental combinations and time periods.

Enjoy a sampler of classical mandolin with works by Beethoven, Calace, Mozart, Kreisler, Scarlatti, and more!

The Hochstein School’s free noontime Live from Hochstein concert series will be hosted by WXXI Classical’s Mona Seghatoleslami and broadcast live. Listen to the concert on WXXI Classical at 91.5 FM, 90.3 FM, or online at https://www.wxxiclassical.org. Listen to an encore broadcast on WXXI Classical 91.5 FM at 10:00 pm the day of the concert.

PRMD_2024-logo_stack...Today’s concert is part of Public Radio Music Day, a nationwide celebration that recognizes public radio’s essential community service and its unique role in music discovery. WXXI Classical (FM 91.5), The Route (FM 88.5 in Rochester and 90.1 in Ithaca), and WEOS-FM 89.7 (Finger Lakes region) are proud to be part of a network of stations dedicated to helping listeners discover new artists and music. The celebration continues on October 23 from 7:00-9:00 pm with a special performance by Margaret Explosion at The Little Café (Winthrop Street). To learn more, visit WXXI.org/PRMD.
