The Weezer album Pinkerton came out 30 years ago to critical disdain–its lyrics were too personal, too awkward, and the music was strange and so raw compared to Weezer’s perfect debut. Its reputation, however, has only grown and it’s now considered one of the most important albums of the 1990s and a seed of the emo and indie-rock movements of subsequent generations.
