Gotta Sing – Gotta Dance! What’s Hot on Broadway

NOTE: This camp is not running in Summer 2020.

Deborah Conquest, Director
Cheryl Johnson, Choreographer
August 5-9, 2019
1:00-5:00 pm
for students entering grades 6-10

Join Hochstein for our second year of this popular musical theatre camp! This camp session will focus on what's hot on the Great White Way right now. Music performed will be chosen from shows of popular composers like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Pasek & Paul, Jason Robert Brown, and Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez. Participants will engage in solo singing as well as work on scenes and group dance numbers with choreography specifically set for the participants. The week will conclude with an informal presentation on Friday, August 9.

Fee: $10 registration fee; $280* tuition. (Fees are as of Summer 2019.)

Here's what Deborah Conquest and Cheryl Johnson want you to know about the camp:

"'Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance' is both an opportunity for those new to MT (musical theatre) to dip their toe in the water, without committing to a full-scale production, as well as seasoned veteran performers who are looking for less of a time commitment. Participants will offer an easy short audition at the beginning of the camp so we can maximize everyone's talents appropriately. We will sing half the day and dance half the day. The camp will culminate in a performance that will be open to the public and friends and family are encouraged to attend! Music will be sent out ahead of camp so performers can prepare beforehand so we can get right into rehearsal once camp starts. Participants will learn how to be part of the ensemble and there will be opportunities for students to shine as well. Our aim is foster a non-competitive, fun environment of healthy singing and dancing!"
