David Hochstein plays Kreisler’s “Liebeslied”

What would it have been like to hear David Hochstein play the violin? He only made a couple of recordings, including one of Fritz Kreisler’s “Liebeslied.”

Hear David Hochstein play this piece and learn some of his life story in this special HochStories video.

The Hochstein School commemorates the life and too-short career of David Hochstein, a young boy from an immigrant family who had the opportunity to study under some of the greatest teachers of his day, despite his family’s lack of means.

Established in 1920 as The David Hochstein Memorial Music School, today The Hochstein School serves approximately 3,500 students annually from a 12-county region surrounding Rochester, N.Y., with offerings in music, dance, and expressive arts (music, art, and dance therapy).
