
Our Dance Program for adults is designed for dancers at all levels who have an interest in movement and increasing conditioning, flexibility, and muscular strength. African Family

Enjoy a sense of community! In this intergenerational class, parents, grandparents and children, couples, preteens, teens and adults will join together to explore the unique dances, songs, and percussion of the African culture! Young and old will enjoy freedom of motion while discovering the rhythm in them just waiting to come out. Discounts available for multiple family members.
Movement & Flexibility

Tuesdays, 6:15–7:15 pm
This class is for everyone—from dancers to those who just want to improve the way they get in and out of a bathtub or car! Class activities include a series of easy stretches and repetitive movements that gently warm up the joints and travel up and down the body’s pathways in varying combinations allowing you to unlock your body’s history and mystery!
A dynamite class for adults combining Salsa, Caribbean moves, and Pilates with an aerobic workout!
Modern II

It’s modern dance with a Caribbean sensibility! Learn modern dance forms from Garth Fagan trained dancer, Christopher Morrison. Strong emphasis on Jamaican folk forms including Kumina, Jonkunna, Mento, combined with early Graham and contemporary modern dance.

Everyone needs time to relax and renew. Strengthen your core while using ballet and yoga techniques to help you relax your muscles and relieve stress.
BALLET
Beginning–Intermediate
An introduction to the basics of ballet vocabulary and technique. Great for
the development of flexibility, strength, coordination, musicality and grace,
with due respect for individual body types.
Ballet II, III, IV
This Intensive Training program focuses on the adagio and allegro movements
while students develop strength, flexibility and placement. The Russian (Vaganova)
Technique is introduced and studied. Students are encouraged to participate
in three or more classes per week.

SPANISH/FLAMENCO
Spanish/Flamenco I
Resident expert Lisa Piccione, will focus this class on basic Spanish dance techniques, including the use
of castanets. Both classical Spanish and Flamenco music will be employed in
class, and tangos, soleá por bulerías and alegriás
will be taught as an introduction to Flamenco rhythms. Students will also
be introduced to palmas, the rhythmic clapping used in Flamenco to
keep time.
Spanish/Flamenco II
This level will build upon the skills learned in Spanish/Flamenco I, and
will include new choreography for castanets and Flamenco. Both classical Spanish
and Flamenco music will be employed in class, and several new palos
will be introduced: bulerías, fandangos de Huelva, and tangos
de Málaga. Also introduced will be the use of palmas and
contratiempo while dancing or accompanying dancers.
Spanish/Flamenco III & IV
This offering expands on the techniques learned in Spanish/Flamenco II, with continued and
new choreography for castanets and Flamenco. Coplas and palos will include
sevillanas, tientos, Fandangos de Huelva, Seguiryas, alegrias, tangos, and bulieras.
MODERN
Modern I and II
Explore your dance horizons with exciting faculty dancer Christopher Morrison as he delves into the world of modern dance. These cutting-edge classes
will draw upon varied influences such as: contemporary Caribbean folk forms,
Garth Fagan technique, Professor Rex Nettleford of the National Dance Theatre
Company of Jamaica, and other contemporary dance innovators.
FEE: $10 registration fee; $468* yearly tuition, payable in quarterly installments of $117. For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein, yearly tuition is $342 payable in quarterly installments of $85.50 for one dance class. For students taking 3 or 4 dance classes, a 25% discount will apply to the 3rd and 4th classes. For students taking more than 4 classes, a 50% discount will apply to all classes beyond the 4th. Quarterly withdrawals are permissible.

For children enrolled in individual lessons, reduced fees may apply if household income is less than $40,000. For children enrolling in classes only and for adults enrolling in individual lessons, reduced fees may apply if household income is less than $25,000. Verification of household income and completion of a tuition assistance application is due prior to registration.
