Evan Meccarello conducts the Alumni OrchestraCanandaigua, NY – Simple Gifts, an annual memorial concert will take place Sunday, June 3, 2012, at 2:00pm in the Canandaigua Elementary School at 90 West Gibson St. Hochstein students and alumni gather with community performers to make music in memory of Molly Brown, a promising young violinist. 

 

Evan Meccarello directs the Hochstein Alumni Orchestra performance of Aaron Copland's Appalachian SpringChristopher Ieda String Quartet performs Josef Haydn's SunriseJonathan & Jordan Brown, cello and viola, performs J. S. Bach's Minuet  No. 3. The Celtic trio Almost Irish with Chris Glattly, keyboard and guitar, Jon Rubins, fiddle and bodhran, and Ralph Minervino, flutes and whistles. They play traditional Irish fare — jigs, reels, airs, ballads and the like — plus music from Scotland, Brittany, even some klezmer music. Zac Lijewski, strings, performs Irish tunes and Brokedown by The Grateful Dead.

 

Proceeds benefit Hochstein at Canandaigua students and programs. Admission is $10, with children 12 and under free. Corporate sponsors are Wegmans and Canandaigua National Bank & Trust.
