Ballet II

Ages 10+ (or dancers who have completed Ballet I or by instructor permission)

Continuing focus on the Russian (Vaganova) Technique at the intermediate level.

 

Ballet III/IV

Diane Lewis, Instructor
Mondays and Thursdays, 5:30-7:00 pm
Ages 13+ (or by instructor permission)

Continuing focus on the Russian (Vaganova) Technique at a more advanced level. It is recommended that students take both classes of Ballet III/IV each week in order to experience a higher level of achievement.

 

Pointe & Variations

Mondays, 7:15-8:15 pm
Ages 13+ (or by instructor permission

Students who are technically capable and physically developed have the option of participating in Pointe class as part of their Vaganova training. The Preparation/Pointe/Variations class will focuses on developing the coordination, muscular strength, and placement for pointe work.Emphasis is placed on the proper foot, body alignment, and core strength needed to safely and successfully dance “en pointe.”


The class consists of beginning and intermediate pointe technique by incorporating exercises at barre and center. Center work includes intermediate combinations and repertoire from traditional and original ballets (variations). Once students have acquired strength and technical proficiency, they are allowed to take the class en pointe.

 

Beginning/Intermediate Ballet

Ages 13 to Adult

This class introduces students to the basics of the Russian (Vaganova) Ballet Technique through barre work and preparation for pirouettes, adagios, and allegro movements. Also covered are the basics of ballet vocabulary and technique. Great for developing flexibility, strength, coordination, musicality, and grace.

 

Intermediate Ballet

Wednesdays, 7:15-8:45 pm
Ages 13 to Adult

A continuing focus on the Russian (Vaganova) Technique at the intermediate level.

 

Dance attire for these classes: 

  • Female: pink tights, solid colored leotard, hair pulled back (long hair in a bun), ballet slippers. No footless tights, leotards with skirts, and no excessive jewelry
  • Male: black footed tights, solid light or white t-shirt, ballet shoes
  • Pointe: short sheer ballet skirts, pointe shoes (when recommended by the instructor)
  • Adults: dance skirt permitted

 

FEES for the above classes: $10 registration fee; $96* tuition; $72 for students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein during summer session. Discounts may apply for students enrolled in multiple dance classes. (Fees are as of Summer 2018.)

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR SUMMER 2018: Take one Ballet or Dance Styles class at full tuition, get a second (or more) Ballet or Dance Styles class at 50% off! First class at $96, second class and beyond at $48. For students already receiving a discount for individual lessons, the second additional class is 50% of full tuition (not the discounted amount). 50% discount applies to the lower tuition fee.
