Hochstein Offers New Vocal Adventure 
for Children with Down Syndromesinger smiling

The Sunshine Singers is a new vocal offering at Hochstein School of Music & Dance geared for children ages 4-12 with Down syndrome. It will meet on Saturdays for seven weeks starting March 15 from 10:30-11:30am. Maria Battista-Hancock, Chair of the Expressive ARTS Dept. has been building classes for groups with varying abilities that covers the creative experience and expands traditional wellness therapies. The Sunshine Singers will explore their voices and participate in a singing ensemble. The children will be split according to ages.

Vocal members from Rochester Institute of Technology’s Eight Beat Measure will participate in a special collaboration with the Sunshine Singers accompanied by music therapists and interns that will culminate with a performance with the whole group at Imagine RIT on May 3, 2014. Eight Beat Measure is an all male a capella group at RIT.

Tuition for the Sunshine Singers is $87.50, with a $10 registration fee. Call the Hochstein Front Office to register; space is limited, at 585-454-4596. The Hochstein School of Music & Dance is located at 50 N. Plymouth Avenue in downtown Rochester. Tuition Assistance is available to those who qualify.
