What would happen if we slowed down the opening two measures of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony so that they last 5 minutes? What if we took the opening half-second of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and looped it? What is the weirdest sound you can make and how can we use it to make music? The "Mad Scientists" will discover the answers to these questions and more in Musical Mad Science

Under Music Lab Director Dave Chisholm's guidance, fledgling "Mad Scientists" ages 10+ perform experiments in musical creation and deconstruction, and, along the way, learn about the nuts and bolts of musical structure including time signature, tonality, texture, contrast, and rhythm. With this course, Hochstein's Music Lab takes on a whole new meaning!

FEE: $10 registration fee; $90* tuition per session.  For students enrolled in individual lessons at Hochstein, tuition is $66 per session. (Fees are as of Fall 2016.)
