Eleven Youth Singers Chosen for the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Honors Choirs

Eleven Hochstein Youth Singers have been chosen to perform in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 2014 Eastern Division Honors Choirs to take place in Baltimore, MD, February 5-8. There are four Honors Choirs as part of the biennial conference where participants will have the opportunity to hear selected college choirs and national ensembles, as well as perform in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

The students selected are:

Elementary Honor Choir: Caroline Fountain (Webster), Anna McDonald (Fairport), John Paulino (Rochester), Brynn Peters (Hilton), Gregory Sekeres (Rochester), Ella Stamper (Brighton). Jr. High Honor Choir: Isabella Barbagallo (Fairport), Katie Carney (Pittsford), Avionna Fitzhugh (Henrietta), Isaiah Whitt (Greece). Chinese Repertoire Choir: Jenna King (Chili)

Maryellen Giese, Youth Singers Director, has been sending in applications for her students to be selected for these ACDA Honors Choirs since the 1980’s. “I have never had so many students accepted before!” she exclaims. Each student auditioned for a choir (out of a possible four choirs) and a particular voice part in the Fall of 2013.
