Program highlights include: Prokofiev’s Scherzo Op. 12, Mozkowski’s Caprice Espagnol, Rachmaninov’s “Lilacs,” Lecouna’s La Comparsa, Air from Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Bach’s Prelude in G minor (arranged by Pick-Mangiagalli), and selected Debussy Preludes, all for solo piano. The concert also features J. Strauss’s “On the Beautiful Danube” for one piano, four hands; “Waltz” from Brubeck’s Jazz Ballet and Delaney’s “Cuando la Tarde Languidece” for two pianos, four hands; selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite for two pianos, eight hands; and Schubert’s “Marche Militaire” in D Major for four pianos, 16 hands. The exciting concert finale will be Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance for eight pianists, arranged by Hochstein adult student Tom Acquaviva.

The concert begins at 7:00 pm, lasts about an hour, and is followed by a “meet the artists” reception. Admission is $5 per person, with a $10 family maximum. Concerts are free to Hochstein students/families, faculty, and staff.

The concert this year is given in memory of Dawn Acquaviva, late wife of Tom Acquaviva and an ardent supporter of Hochstein’s piano program.
