Event details

Come get to know the unsung hero of the saxophone family as played by Hochstein faculty member Nancy Boone-Bahr in a program of modern works for the baritone saxophone, joined by pianist Yi-Wen Chang, the Vertex Saxophone Quartet (Chisato Eda Marling, soprano saxophone; Chris Doser, tenor saxophone; Barbara Brown, alto saxophone), and special guest Ramon Ricker.

Prepare yourself to be ‘romanced’ by some of Rochester’s finest musicians with works by Catherine McMichaels, Dexter Morrill, Chris Rutkowski, and André Previn. The program includes two Rochester premieres with a special appearance by composer Dexter Morrill.

Nancy Boone-Bahr has made the baritone saxophone her solo instrument since she was 12 years of age, eventually becoming the first person to graduate from the Eastman School of Music with a Performers’ Certificate on the baritone saxophone. Admission at the door is $10 per person, with a $20 family maximum. A “meet the artists” reception follows the concert.

The Spotlight on Faculty concert series is generously supported by Hochstein donors. It is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

This event is supported by Wegmans Food Markets.
