Hochstein Alumni Orchestra Honors Former HYSO Director Nancy Strelau

Rochester, NY—DECEMBER 15—The Hochstein Alumni Orchestra will perform a free public concert on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 7:30 PM in Hochstein’s Performance Hall. The orchestra, founded in 2011, has been organized and conducted by Evan Meccarello, a former member of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra, since its inception.

The concert, One Night in Paris, featuring works by Fauré, Mozart and Bizet, will honor former HYSO Director and founder Nancy Strelau, who served in that role from 1992 to 2013.

Strelau currently serves on the faculty at Nazareth College. Over the years, she has been the recipient of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Musicians Award for Outstanding Music Educator in String Education, Hochstein Music School Faculty Service Award, and Richard Snook Memorial Award from the Monroe County School Music Association.

Earlier in the day at 11:30AM, a panel of Hochstein alumni will share with current members of Hochstein’s student orchestras about ways in which they have continued in music beyond their experiences at Hochstein. The public is welcome to attend the panel as well.

Admission: FREE. Donations at the door welcome.Call 585-454-4596 for more information.
